Mildred & Duck, an Australian design studio designed this nice identity for the RMIT Visual Arts Graduate exhibition, titled If You Touch It, You’ll Get Dirty. 

Abstract images of ‘dirty’ art related mediums have been used to visually represent the exhibition title, and to show the variety of mediums in which the students work. The posters were packaged with a hand-stamped belly band for the opening night.

A quick article to present you this great idea for the international music students of the Amsterdam Conservatory. They created their own recording room, that streams directly to the project’s website. They also put a giant red light outside the building to inform the neighborhood when they’re playing. And they’re not bad.

Corporate design, flyer and poster for an employment project for adolescents. tag.werk produces unique copies of bags, made out of fabric remnants.
Design is based on a triangle and square grid, basic graphic elements combined with a bright color palette, allowing to build simple images.

There remains only few days before the end of this Kickstarter project. Smart Citizen is an open-source environmental monitoring platform consisting of arduino-compatible hardware, with data visualization web API, and mobile app. A excellent international project that could help our cities to take some initiative to improve our quality of life. Go on and support this project.

Elektra is a cultural manifestation about digital arts, with artists and works combining electronic music and visual creation from new technologies. The 2013 edition was based on the theme « Anti/Matière » (antimatter). The design studio Baillat Cardell & fils, developed several communication tools, promotional videos and print work. I especially love what they did for the web promotion with this « experimental » website : http://anti-matiere.ca/.

A good work, coherent from idea to the execution is rare enough to be underlined. Dont hesitate to have a look on their other realisations,

Points is the last project from Breakfast (see also Perception), as usual it’s a wonderful idea with a great execution. They built a new kind of signage that interact with foursquare, twitter, transportation API, RSS Feed… etc. A perfect urban objet to help you when you’re looking for something.

In the summer of 2010, fifteen Art Center students from the Graphic Design, Environmental, Product and Transportation departments were selected to go to Berlin and participate in a sponsored studio abroad, dedicated to rebranding the Johnson & Johnson-owned Piz Buin (a premium sunscreen brand) to target Millennial Berliners.

My group was tasked with addressing the Berlin music scene—which consists mostly by semi-nocturnal anti-branding young people—and figuring out how to get them to engage with Piz Buin. Ultimately we embraced the night aesthetic and the appropriated street vernacular of the audience, to speak to them in their own visual language.

Also on the music team were Erica Li and Seth Baker, who were responsible for branded environments and collaborated on ideas and production. Package and brand extension design, process book design & photography by Amelia Stier.

The online printing company Exaprint has just launched in the UK, and to convince local designers to use their services, they approached four different studios; Inventory Studio, Music, Studio Output and Studio Makgill, to design a group of limited edition samples demonstrating four of the more exotic processes available through Exaprint; White Ink, 3D Varnish, Laser Cutting and Foil Blocking.

This project was lead by YCN Studio.

Here is a really nice (and usefull) kit to survive after a heartbreak. A good idea designed by Melanie Chernock from NYC.

Love Hurts was created based on an assignment to make an activity book. I thought it would be more interesting to make a sort of activity kit instead. From there, I came up with the concept of Love Hurts: A first aid kit for a broken heart. Initially, I knew that I did not want to make a kit of sadness and wanted to approach the product with a sense of humor. Love Hurts contains all of the essentials for going through a rough breakup such as dark chocolate, vodka, bubble bath soap, a candle with matches, candy hearts, a mix CD, and if all else fails, tissues. All of the products come neatly packaged in a compact kit. Unfortunately, the kit is not yet available to purchase. If anyone is interested in producing it, please get in touch!

New Grids nous emmène à Singapour

Growing Up was an exhibition in Singapore calls Nostalgia of Objects. The identity has been designed by Seah Yun Xin, a local graphic designer. She only used a simple color system with pretty simple icon as well.

Growing up in Singapore has it’s own uniqueness. We have all grown up in different eras, each memorable and important in shaping who we are today. Each object we hold and possess, encapsulate a certain memory of when we were growing up. Bitter or sweet, it stays dear to us. As we continue to be shaped by today’s fast paced society, lets make the effort to take some time to slow down and remember our growing up years and the simplicity an memories of each object.

Here is a nice serie of poster by Soonyi Goh, a young graphic designer from Singapore. A minimalist and nice way to expose all this useless that we learn on the internet.

A series of 8 posters were created based on some of the « useless and unimportant » facts found on the internet. Social media is a popular tool in sharing of information in recent times, however, graphic design hasn’t been exercised much in that aspect when it is meant for that very purpose.
